Discovering Honduras

Day 1:
Arrival in San Pedro Sula and overnight at a hotel with a/c, cable t.v., private bathroom.

Discovering the Mayas
Day 2:
Exit to Copan Ruinas and once there we visit the Museum and the city of Copan. Enjoy the night life of this colonial city.
Day 3:
Walking and touring the Arqueological Park of Copan, where we shall travel through time to meet the historical Mayan Civilization, this city is considered the "Athens" or "paris" of the Mayan World in all its splendor.

Ecological Adventures in the Caribbean
Day 4:
Exit towards the Port City of Tela, Atlantida. Throughout 300 kms of lush greenery scene road. Overnight at a beachfront hotel in Tela.
Day 5:
Tour to Punta Sal National Park.
An ecological adventure that combines a white sanded beach with the only coral reef in the Honduran mainland and be surprised by many birds, monkeys and living culture of the Garifuna people. Overnight in Tela.
Day 6:
Visit to the Lancetilla Botanical Garden.
Founded in 1926, it is the second largest Tropical Botanical Garden in the World. Interesting, also great for birdwatchers and bathe in a small brook. We continue 100 kms towards La Ceiba, Atlantida. We overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 7:
Visit the Butterfly Museum and Other Insects. Here we can admire more than 12,000 specimens of butterflies and insects from Honduras and 68 other countries. This collection includes: the world's largest butterfly, as well as the brightest one. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 8:
Tour Pico Bonito National Park.
The most diverse National Park in Honduras. One of it´s kind. It has an altitude of 7,300 ft above sea level. Here we shall hike approximately 1,500 mts above sea level through a tropical jungle to bathe in a crystaline bathing hole and access to a waterfall 40 mts high. Overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 9:
Tour to the Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge.
A mangrove forest that hosts 28% of the birdlife in Honduras. We board a car for 30 minutes from La Ceiba, then we ride a traincar over historic tracks 91/2 kms to get on a boat for 2 hours through canals and estuaries, that lodge monkeys, crocodiles and so much more. Finally we rest at the Salado Barra´s Beach to end up taking the same route we came in. Overnight in La Ceiba.

Caribbean Reef
Day 10:
We travel to Utila, Bay Islands.
A tour of the hospitalarious island that claim that Robinson Crusoe lived his adventure after being shipwrecked, this trip begins and ends on the yacht, so we can do some snorkelling. Schedule from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Return and overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 11:
Tour to Cayos Cochinos.
We leave at 5:30 a.m. towards Sambo Creek a Garifuna Community to board a motorboat for an hour until we arrive at Chachahuate Key to interact with the locals and bathe in the crystaline waters. We return an overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 12:
The Cangrejal River´s Zipline Canopy Tour.
An adventure full of adrenaline!
This area of the Pico Bonito National Park has a very secure wiring that allow you to "fly" above the cups of trees, through the lush rain forest safely and exciting. Return and overnight in La Ceiba.
Day 13:
Free time to relax or go sightseeing in La Ceiba. Last night in La Ceiba.
Day 14:
Trip back to San Pedro Sula and overnight there.
Day 15:
Exit of international flight.

PICO BONITO NATIONAL PARK
The Largest National Park in Honduras Hike your way through two breathtaking waterfalls.The tour is for the adventure type.



CUERO & SALADO WILDLIFE REFUGE
Is a mangrove forest with an area of 11,527 hactareas, enjoy riding on a "Burra" a train cart pushed by two youngmen 9 1/2 Kms to Salado Barra where we board a boat for two hours, then spend time at the beach and stectch out, finally we ride back the same way we arrived.


CACAO LAGOON
A small group, low budget option of a charming village named El Cacao, located 36 Kms. from La Ceiba, a trip to a mangrove forest on a dogout canoe rewed by a residing member of the community, towards a sand bank that divides the lagoon from the Caribbean Sae, be surprised by the howler monkeys, birds and in the horizon glimpse at Cayos Cochinos.

La Ceiba ha cautivado a sus visitantes por sus bellezas naturales, el nombre mismo de la ciudad se debe a un gigantesco árbol de Ceiba que se alzaba majestuoso a orillas del Mar Caribe en el lugar donde hoy convergen la principal avenida y la primera calle, era tal su grandiosidad que sus primeros pobladores (garífunas provenientes de San Vicente) aseguraban que era "la escalera que Dios utilizaba cuando bajaba del cielo a visitar la tierra".

Entre sus atractivos destaca el imponente Pico Bonito (2345 mts.), que es también un parque nacional, en este bosque nuboso se conjugan las abundantes lluvias y las pendientes rocosas para formar bellas cascadas y paisajes espectaculares.
Allí también se encuentra el río Cangrejal, uno de los más emocionantes de Centro América para la práctica del canotaje o rafting.

El Refugio de Vida Silvestre de Cuero y Salado
, un humedal con canales secos y fluviales donde podrá apreciar animales salvajes y pájaros exóticos, confundidos en la vasta vegetación. Con algo de suerte es posible divisar un hermoso manatí, especie en peligro de extinción y que ha encontrado aquí un lugar seguro para vivir.

La Ceiba es conocida a nivel centroamericano por su Feria Isidra, la cual se lleva a cabo a finales del mes de mayo y culmina con el Gran Carnaval de la Amistad. Pero no solamente para esta fecha el ambiente de fiesta impera en la ciudad, el espíritu alegre de sus habitantes prevalece todo el año en la primera calle o "zona viva" con sus discotecas y bares con ambientes para todos los gustos.
